-
Provide 1 or 2 clues about the word and then allow students to take turns guessing the word
- Remind students to search through the Word Wall as the clues are presented to see if they can find the word
- For example, The word I am thinking of begins with the letter that makes the /t/ sound, it is a contraction and it contains one syllable.
-
One by one, invite students to share their guesses with the class
- Have them say the word, spell the word, say the word again and then orally use the word in a sentence
- Provide additional clues if necessary
-
Review the meaning of homonyms
- For example, homonyms are words that sound the same but are spelled differently and carry different meanings
-
Once the mystery word is identified, ask students to search the Word Wall to find a homonym for the word
- One by one, invite students to share their guess, spell it and orally use the word in a sentence
