One of the things that teachers need to know when they're working with children who emigrated from various countries, is that they have to observe how the children develop over time. And what were finding is that it's a very important clue. So you will have some kids in the class who don't speak English at home and they are learning very quickly, they're learning quickly to read, their language is getting better very quickly. Where some children are not getting better, are not getting better and these are the kids we are worried about. These are the kids for whom they may need some extra help either in small groups or outside the class or maybe the parents can have a tutor but kind of observe them as theyre getting extra help to see if that really helps them to get better and if not then sometimes we say well maybe there is a learning disability, then we will have to bring in the assessment - a more formal assessment.
