Teacher: Before we read our story, there is something we have to do going through our GO chart. Were not going to do the GO chart on the board, okay? Were just going to do the GO chart in our what?
Students: Brains.
Teacher: In our brains, okay? Whats the first thing we have to do?
Student: Picture walk!
Teacher: We have to do our picture walk. Are you ready?
Students: Yes, sir.
Teacher: Just by going through that picture walk, what do you think Mr. Noisys Helpers is going to be about? What are we getting ready to make, [Students Name]?
Student: A prediction.
Teacher: Were getting ready to make our prediction. What do you think the storys going to be about, [Students Name]?
Student: The policemans going to help.
Teacher: You think the policemans going to help him? Okay, thats a good prediction.
Teacher: The second part of the GO chart we have to find the words that we think are going to be in the story. Those are called the what?
Students: Vocabulary words.
Teacher: The vocabulary words. [Students Name], what word do you think youre going to see in Mr. Noisys Helpers?
Student: Mail carrier.
Teacher: Mail carrier? Okay, thats a good one, [Students Name].
Teacher: Alright, here we go, Mr. Noisys Helpers. "Who helps Mr. Noisy when hes sick?"
Teacher: Who do you think Mr. Noisy is supposed to go to when hes sick? [Students Name]?
Student: The doctor.
Teacher: The doctor is who you go to when youre sick?
Teacher: Are you sure?
Student: Yes.
Teacher: Are you sure?
Student: Yes.
Teacher: Alright, lets see. It is the doctor. What is the doctor telling him to do right here?
Students: Open his mouth!
Teacher: Open his mouth, and say what?
Students: Ahhhh!
Teacher: Who helps Mr. Noisy when theres a fire? Hmmm. Everybody lets think for a minute and say...
Teacher and Student: Hmmm.
Teacher: Who helps us when theres a fire? [Students Name], who help us when there is a fire?
Student: The firefighter.
Teacher: The firefighter does.
Teacher: Lastly, after weve read our story weve gone through our picture walk, weve made our predictions, weve done our vocabulary. Now, its time for us to recall all of the information that weve learned. Thats the last part of our GO chart.
Teacher: Can I ask you some questions?
Student: Yes, sir.
Teacher: Who is the person that were supposed to tell when theres a fire? [Students Name].
