Open-Ended Responses
Providing Students with a Reference Guide (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
Along with our five steps, we also have for our students to see an example of what a higher-level answer should look like. It is divided into colour coding, so the first step one is done in yellow, so the students can see what that would look like in their response, step two is done in orange, step three is done in pink, step four is done in green. And then the final step five is done in blue which is not up there, because that's what we're working on right now.
Activity Objective
The goal of Open-Ended Responses: Providing Students with a Reference Guide (Virtual Tour) is to provide students with an exemplary model of what a well-developed answer looks like in order to help organize their ideas about a text they have read.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Providing students with an example of what a higher level answer looks like helps them to understand the goals of the learning task. Students can also use this example when self-assessing their work.
- Color-coding each step provides students with a clear idea of what they should include in each section of their answer.
