Teacher: Now we're going to play Trash or Treasure . So how this works is you're going to roll the dice and you're going to make a word that's going to go green, blue, green. Then you're going to read it out.
Student: Red.
Teacher: Green blue red, you're right. Green blue red. Then you're going to read it out and if it makes a real word, you're going to write it down and put it in the treasure box. If it makes a fake word, you're going to write it down and throw it in the trash. So let's try this one, what does it say?
Student: Met.
Teacher: Met. Okay, so would that be real or fake?
Student: Real.
Teacher: Right, okay so there's your pen. I'll cover it up, just write it down just by hearing the sounds. Let's stick that in the treasure box. Alright, go ahead. It's going to go green blue red.
Student: Gube.
Teacher: What do you say?
Student: Gub.
Teacher: Gub. Is that trash or treasure?
Student: Trash.
Teacher: Yeah, it's trash. It's not a real word. Good one, okay crumple it up and then throw it in the trash. Great.
Student: You can take a turn.
Teacher: Okay, help me sound it out.
Student: /k/ /o/ /b/, cob.
Teacher: Cob, is that a real word? What does it mean?
Student: Like corn on the cob.
Teacher: Oh yeah, like corn on the cob. Okay, cover it up and I'll sound it out. But you might need to help me. /c/ /a/ /b/. How did I do?
Student: You wrote cab.
Teacher: Oh no, /c/ /a/ /b/. Alright, what should I do to make it say cob?
Student: /o/
Teacher: Oh, I need an /o/. There we go, cob. Alright, your turn. Oh, this one has a little chunk that we've been working on.
Student: An.
Teacher: An, yeah great.
Student: Man.
Teacher: Man, really good job. I bet we can find an up on the wall somewhere. There's an, yeah, these are all different chunks you've been working on. These are all the ones you already know. Oh yeah, okay I'll cover that up too. No cheating. Great job. Then you locked it up to safe and close up the trash.
