One thing that we've recognized is very important is for the students to know what their learning goals are, what's your learning target, why am I learning it, what am I learning, and how will I know I'm successful at it. And we change this throughout the year, of course. So if we're focusing specifically working on, I'm learning how to write a successful sentence, that's what we're spending time on in writing. Or I'm learning to use my strategy to reach my reading goal of accuracy. Or in math, I'm learning how to use doubles as an addition strategy. It's really important that students recognize what we're spending our time on and why we're spending our time on it, and why what they're learning is really important. So this chart's ongoing, it changes regularly, and they refer back to it throughout the month. And when we're getting to the end of the month and we're writing our summaries, we can refer back to this too, well what did we spend time on this month, why did we spend time on it. Again, purpose and motivation often help them to become more successful.
