This is an example of how I integrate social studies, music, and literacy. We've just finished a unit where the children in social studies, have each researched a country around the world. I then, for my music program, took a song, this is a Johnny Cash song, Everywhere Man, and where he sings about all the different places that he goes when he's traveling and performing. And I've changed the lyrics a little bit to include all of the names of the countries that the children studied. So then I wrote it on chart paper. We generated how to put the words in with the cadence of the song, we listened to the song and how it sort of works together, and then I print it on chart paper, the children read it, learn it, and then we sing it together as a class.
