Imagination
Asking Questions for Further Inquiry (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
In our classroom this year we have a theme of imagination, and at the beginning of the year we really did a lot of activities so that I was sure that the children really understood what imagination really is. In this activity, I asked the children to use what they know about who, what, when, where, and why, to ask questions about what they think imagination is. What is imagination? Who has it? Where is it? When do you use it? And why do you think we have one? And they came up with some very interesting answers. I also asked them to conceptualize about where their imagination is in their head, and these are the results.
Activity Objective
The goal of Imagination: Asking Questions for Further Inquiry (Virtual Tour) is to extend students' understanding and exposure to new concepts and to foster thinking skills and the development of knowledge.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Discuss different types of questions, including off-the-page and on-the-page questions. An off-the-page question might begin with What do you think...? whereas an on-the-page question might include factual information. - Before students write their questions, encourage them to share their ideas with a partner as well as with the whole class. Brainstorm possible answers.
