To my right you can see my bobblehead activity. This is one of the first activities we do in the classroom at the beginning of the year. This is a way for the students to introduce themselves to each other and to introduce themselves to me.
What I do is I take a photo of students and then I give them an 8.5 by 11 piece of blank paper. I ask them to draw their body, and then I print out a picture of their face that's the same size as their body. The point is to have fun on their first day of school, build community, and get to know one another. I give them a blank speech bubble and I ask them to write down something they believe is important about themselves that they would like other people to know.
These stay up in the classroom for the duration of the year. They serve to help guests that visit our classroom get to know the students. It's great to be able to put a face to a name. Each one of my students created their own bobblehead. They are not displayed in my classroom right now to protect the anonymity of the students.
