Teacher: So, a great feature of Starfall is the Learn to Read segment. A teacher and her students can read a story together. Starfall Website: Listen to the short a sound, /a/, /a/, /a/. /Z/a/c/, /Zac/. Teacher: At this point, it allows the teacher to read with the students. The students were able to look for high frequency words. The students were able to come up and with directionality, starting from the left to the right, read each word, and then they can go off and practice this with a partner during free time, exploration time, in the classroom. This allows students to be confident. And even if they don't know a word, the SMART Board is a great tool where they can just touch the word and they'll stretch out the sounds in that word or name for the students. It'll reinforce sight frequency words that we're working on. So what a fun and engaging tool for students to have and read at the same time.
