Teacher: My retelling hand has five special things on its fingers. The first finger is called characters. Lets move on to the next finger. What does it mean, the setting? [Students Name]?
Student: Where the story takes place.
Teacher: Where does the story take place. And look at the picture. The picture is to help you. The third finger represents problem. What is the problem in the story? Thats something youre going to be looking for when you read a story today.
Teacher: Solution. How do we solve the problem? And the last finger represents favorite part.
Teacher: Were going to listen to a CD, and its called The Blues Version of the Three Little Pigs.
Recording and Students: Once upon a time, there was three little pigs. Three little pigs, let me come in? Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin. And he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew, and he blew the house in.
Teacher: Who were the characters? [Students Name].
Student: Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf.
Teacher: Wonderful, now lets move on to the next finger, the setting. Where did the story take place? [Students Name].
Student: Outside.
Teacher: Outside. Teacher: And what was your favorite part of the story? [Students Name].
Student: The wolf fell down the chimney.
Teacher: When the wolf fell down the chimney, that was funny.
