Assistive Technology Resources
Using Computer Resources to Build Success and Confidence (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
Technology and assistive technology is something that is very prominent in my classroom, and we often see technology as something that levels the playing field. I think that technology for students really is the playing field because for communication purposes, it is really catering to their strength and helping them become the communicators that we want them to be. For struggling learners who struggle to read and write and communicate their learning, speech detection programs like Dragon, programs that can read online material like Read and Write Gold or help with word prediction like Word Cue and Speed Cue, really help to assist the students in that communication piece and show their learning where otherwise they may not be able to demonstrate to the teacher what they've learned throughout the unit.
