Classroom Tips

Transcript

One of the things that is important to me is to have the books that I use in my classroom. I came up with this idea recently, which is organizing my books here. These are books that I use to teach, resource books, but also read alouds.

They are classified and organized by subjects. It could be snow for snow days, it could be Christmas or Hanukkah or it could be going to the second grade, or it could be about science, it could be social studies, it could be any of the subjects. Books that I know that I use for reading read alouds usually that are categorized in different aspects that I know that is easy for me to get. I know they're there, and when I need them, I just look here.

They all already have a tag, then I pull them out and it's easy and then I put them back. This is a good tip that I give you as a teacher. Be organized with your books, have them in one spot, and that way, it will make your life easier.

Activity Objective

The goal of The Teacher's Library: Creating an Organized Collection of Professional and Read Aloud Books (Virtual Tour) is to create an effective classroom environment for the teacher as well as the students. Having a well-organized, easily accessible collection of professional books and favorite read-aloud books assists with daily planning and makes instruction more efficient and engaging.

Quick Tips

Additional Comments:

- Be mindful of where you keep your teacher resources. If you don't want your students to touch your books, then keep them out of their reach.
- Although creating an organized system for storing and accessing teaching resources takes time it also saves a lot of teacher time and creates an environment that supports student learning.
- Create a teacher resource library in the staff room so that everyone can access shared resources.
