Personal Browsing Bins
Building Interest in Reading in Kindergarten (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
Every day the children are given opportunities to practice independent reading. Each child has their own browsing box which contains books at their instructional level. We have a procedure for reading to theirselves, they go and get their box, they find a spot on the floor by themselves, they read their own books, and when the chimes sound, they stop.
Activity Objective
The goal of Personal Browsing Bins: Building Interest in Reading in Kindergarten (Virtual Tour) is to promote the enjoyment of books and appreciation for the usefulness of reading by providing students with an opportunity to select books of interest and keep selected books in their browsing bins.
