Transcript
Every day I like to provide lots of opportunities for the children to listen to stories read aloud. It gives them the chance to make predictions, to ask questions, to make connections with their own lives. And I like to choose a variety of fiction and non-fiction books, and every day we have a math story as well.

Activity Objective
The goal of Daily Read Alouds: Using Non-Fiction and Math Books in the Literacy Program (Virtual Tour) is to explore various genres, both fiction and non-fiction, on a daily basis.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Tracking the books you have read aloud with your students by displaying the titles and authors names around the classroom is an engaging way to learn about different genres.
- Select texts that are developmentally appropriate. Engaging students with texts that are exciting and interesting contributes to a motivation for literacy and fosters a love of books.
