Tribes Agreements
Creating Inclusive Classroom Culture in Second Grade (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
My classroom is a TRIBES classroom; what I mean by TRIBES is it is a book published by Jeanne Gibbs and she creates in the book four different agreements that the students follow with the support of their teacher and it sets up behavior management. The students have a certain relationship with one another that supports mutual respect, it supports active listening, it supports a sense of participation, and also the rite to pass. So the students feel safe and comfortable in the environment. And once this is established in your classroom, that sense of community, then various activities and learning strategies can be attempted with success because the students are set up to behave as a community.
