There are specific supplies that you can have in your classroom that are inexpensive and extremely helpful. One of those is sticky notes, they can be used in almost any area of the curriculum. They come plain and, for your students with fine motor issues, they come lined. These can be very helpful during your literacy program. So for example if a student is engaged in Read to Self through the Daily 5 and their job is to make a prediction, write it on a sticky note and put it into the book. This gives the child great sense of ownership over their ideas. I remember the first time I told my students they could keep the sticky note in the book, they felt wonderful, they felt validated, that their thoughts were important enough to leave inside a book. So the next time some else refers to the book they might read someone else's prediction, and it sparks a conversation between two readers about a text and it all started with a sticky note.
