As part of the music program, the students respond of variety of music through listening. We come up with a chart that describes the elements of music. For example, tempo, meaning the speed of the music, and dynamics, how loud or soft the music is. While we listen to a variety of music, we talk about these elements that we hear. The students, in this task, were given an album cover that they had to design. On the front of the cover, they could choose any title that they wanted to. This could have been a group that they enjoy listening to or just a title that included the word music. On the inside of the cover design, they had to write the elements of music, the definitions for the elements of music, and then choose a song. The song that they chose, they then wrote a paragraph about the song that included the different elements of music.

The goal of Designing Music Albums: Developing Descriptive Writing (Virtual Tour) is to provide students with the structural form of descriptive writing and to expose students to new vocabulary in music.

- List the elements of music on a piece of chart paper for students to refer to while they write their description. Provide students with many opportunities to listen to a variety of music. While listening, discuss the various music elements.
