The students' learning extends into the hallway. The students are able to display their work in the hallway and take pride in what they've accomplished. As well, students who are walking through the hallways are able to admire what we've been working on in the classroom.
In this task, the students were asked to create a poster that had to feature what we've been studying in science. The fourth grade students have been investigating rocks and minerals, and the third grade students have been investigating soil. So their task was to create a poster that would inform the audience about information and facts for each of these ideas. We also discussed and created a chart that had features of a poster included. This would be headings, and bold title, a border, and catchy phrases and colors that they would use to create a poster. And also looking and paying attention to the purpose and the audience of that poster. So when I put these up on display, they can not only admire the posters that we've created, but they can also see that there are the text features around the display that focus in on what a poster would include.
