Reading Chart to Track Progress
Promoting Growth Through On-going Assessment (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
In the folder holder my students keep a little reading chart. This chart tracks their daily reading; part of our reading workshop program encourages independent reading. To really help motivate my students a little more, we use this chart to track books that they're reading and their books they are reading with me and when they get to the end the whole class gets to celebrate. I also take the time to make little notes about if they are choosing books that are just right, too challenging or maybe even too easy. It's where I can make little assessment notes about their reading habits.
Activity Objective
The goal of Reading Chart to Track Progress: Promoting Growth Through On-going Assessment (Virtual Tour) is to motivate students to practice reading familiar books and to track students' reading progress throughout the year.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Encourage independent reading and improve fluency by providing opportunities for repeated reading practice at school and home.
- Monitor the variety and difficulty of books students are reading by reviewing individual charts with students and making quick notes on the chart.
