I like to give my students options to show what they know. Pencil and paper sometimes can get a little boring. So by using mini white boards or mini sentence strips, we can change things up and also I find it helps students take more risk with answering a problem. We use them a lot for math and we use them a lot for science, and it's great for group work. We use them a lot when we're doing games and multiple choice type games.
Students just seem to be more open to trying new answers and to trying new games, and it's also a lot easier to erase a mistake and correct yourself using a white board and eraser than it is pencil and paper. They're also bigger and it's just sort of another something new, that gives them the opportunity to show what they know.
