Easy Reads
Books that Build Confidence and Motivation (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
It's really important to have a variety of books that meet the different reading levels in my classroom. These Oxford Reading Tree Books are high interest and have a storyline that the kids can connect to. They also come in short series so once they read one book they're motivated to read the next book. The books are also leveled very discreetly so it's easy for me to make sure that the child is reading a book that best matches their reading ability, especially if I need to push them to try a book that's a little more challenging or encourage them to try a book that might be a better match. These chapter books have become really popular and so many of my students once they get reading really want to take on something new, something bigger, something that has more words. But we need to make sure that it's not too big of jump. Shoo Fly Guy is a favorite among every student in the class, it's a great chapter book, high interest, funny but great decoding skills can still be practiced as the kids move through the series.
