Folder Holders
Desktop Organizers for Resources (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
As you can see my students' work stations look a little bit different than the average classroom desk, which is actually a good thing because we eliminate the whole: black hole, things getting lost in the inside of your desk. To accommodate for this my students have folder holders on their desk, which basically has anything they might need in the classroom but just at an arm's reach. So in there they have a hundreds chart, they have a list of high frequency words, they'll have a calendar, they have math time lines, they have notebooks that keep their ideas, pencils, papers anything they might need during a lesson. It helps alleviate the looking up and looking back at your desk where students often lose what they were looking at and the tracking is really difficult.
Activity Objective
The goal of Folder Holders: Desktop Organizers for Resources (Virtual Tour) is to provide students with individual learning resources, like strategy charts, that are easily accessible and organized.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Personal spelling dictionaries provide students with individualized word lists that match their instructional level for reading and writing tasks.
- Have students include additional items in their folder holder as they develop personal resources throughout the year.
- Students can make their own personal resources, like dictionaries, by using construction paper, lined paper and writing utensils.
