Don't Lose that Thought!
Notebooks to Jot Down Ideas for Writing (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
Another thing my students keep in their folder holder is a little notebook to collect their ideas. It's at arm's length. They'll come in the morning, they'll say "Ms. David! I had the best weekend!" and often times I'll take the note about the weekend and eventually it's a jumping point for what they want to write about in their journal or during writing workshop.
Activity Objective
The goal of Don't Lose that Thought!: Notebooks to Jot Down Ideas for Writing (Virtual Tour) is to help students collect their ideas for writing tasks in an easily accessible notepad.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Students can keep these personalized notebooks in their folder holders in order for easy access during independent work.
- Pre-writing strategies, including brainstorming topics, are risk-free opportunities for students to begin to develop their ideas.
