Scratch Math Book
Risk-Free Practice to Consolidate Concepts (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
In my classroom we use the Jump Math Program. It's a wonderful hands-on program that allows students to try out their math understandings in a variety of different ways. One of the things I have created in my math classroom, are these scratch math books. Just like scratch spelling this is where students can try out different math concepts. It's a low risk way to try out a new concept. It's also a way to show me in the middle of the unit or at the end of the unit that students are understanding important concepts. It's a great way to check in with students and their math understanding at any point during the year. So just because we've finished a unit on geometry it's important that a month later, two months later, three months later I still know they understand the concepts. So this is a great book where they can come in the morning and just check in and do a question. It's no risk and its great feedback for me and how my students are doing in their math program.
