Time Timer
Building Time Concepts and Time Management (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
We use the timer every day, multiple times during the day. It's a wonderful visual tool for students to understand how long things take. It's also great for keeping me, the teacher on task as well as the class. We also talk about how long we think something should take us and we set the timer to see if we were spot on. It's also a great tool in math for estimating, time lines, time intervals and it starts to introduce the concept of how kids start to learn about time and how to manage their time. Everyday it's in use. So here students can look up and know they have about 18 minutes left before the time goes off. The red part displays how much time we've set and it actually moves and beeps when the time is over. So children can always take a look and see how much time is left before they have to move to the next task, finish what they're doing or before the next activity is coming. Addition to the visual, there is also a beep when the time runs out. The beep's a little quiet, so if you are fortunate you'll have a student like me; he'll yell out "There's the beep".
