Morning Calendar and Weather
Supporting Oral Language and Vocabulary (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
Abracadabra! Alakazam! The children are so happy to come up and learn about what day it is on our calendar, to learn about the month and even learn about the year and what the weather will be for today. There are always words and vocabulary available for the children and they excitedly come up and show you: Is it partly cloudy? Is it hot? Is it sunny? And I usually use flashcards that go along with this bulletin board so that reading is always honed with every activity that we do. Upon entering into the classroom the children will check on their daily monitor list to see who will be the monitor for the day. The monitor for the day has the responsibility of doing the calendar and also cleanup and make sure that everything is neat within the classroom. If the teacher needs any help with anything that's where our special monitor of the day comes in handy. And everyone excitedly looks to see if it's their turn today or maybe it's their turn tomorrow, something to look forward to.
