Elbow to Elbow, Knee to Knee
Reading Bob Books with a Partner (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
You might have noticed that we have these cute little carpet squares on the floor with a book bin set in between two carpet squares. That's because this is a social reading event. Two children will come and sit down on the carpets and sit elbow-to-elbow, knee-to-knee, which we call our EEKK program, and they can read to each other. There are five sets of Bob Books boxes that the children are going to be able to read from. They start from the simplest box, which is set number one. There are twelve books in each box. I've created a checklist for the children: they can choose any book from the one box that they're rereading and it can be at their discretion to choose whichever book they want, and check off the books that they have completed. What better way to feel great about reading than reading to a friend and having your friend read back to you.
Activity Objective
