Stories and More!
Motivation for Reading at the Listening Center (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
The listening center is used as a means for motivating reading skills, it's also used as a social environment. Two or up to four children can sit at our listening center and enjoy stories together. One child gets to hold up the book the rest of the children are listening to the story, and we can hear giggles and laughter coming from the back of the room, which is very inspiring to the whole class as they wait for their turn. As in many activities that we do within my environment a checklist is provided so that the children are aware of when it is their turn and look foreword to the next time they will get a turn at our classroom listening center.
Activity Objective
The goal of Stories and More!: Motivation for Reading at the Listening Center (Virtual Tour) is to foster the enjoyment of reading and promote accuracy and proper expression in reading by having students listen to a variety of texts at the listening center.
