Mitzvah Tree
Making Home and School Connections (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
I work in a Hebrew day school. Within our Hebrew day school having good manners doing good deeds is a very important thing within our environment. I always tell the children: "put some information in, take some information out, and take some derraherets and put it in your mouth." Derraherets are good deeds. We also want the children to understand that good deeds are done at home and at school. So I involve my parents in this activity, by writing Mitzvah notes, which are good-deed notes and we can include them on our wonderful Tree of Knowledge, which is all about our Mitzvah notes from home. It's a great literacy motivator that the children bring in, and are so happy to share thoughts from their family at home with their friends at school.
Activity Objective
The goal of Tree of Knowledge: Making Home and School Connections (Virtual Tour) is to build home and school connections by having students share and display thoughts from their families or mitzvah notes on the tree of knowledge.
