Bob Books For Beginning Readers
Developing Decoding Skills (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
I systematically introduce the phonetic sounds of letters to the children. Once they're comfortable with putting those letters together to form words, they're able to go one step beyond and start reading books on their own level. This Bob series books are leveled readers that the children are able to independently read according to the level that they are able to reach. Within each box, there are 12 books which hone in on the phonetic sounds of the letters. They go from simple, to a lot harder words that are incorporated within the books. The children are able to start with the first set of books quite early in the year, and they gradually will add on to those books and reach the final, fifth level. And then we move onto our next stage in our reading. Teacher: And we are looking for the Bob book series. So as you're reading your Bob books, and working with your Bob books on the iPads, Mrs. Stone is going to come around and listen to you. Student: Matt caught a dog and a rat. Teacher: Excellent reading girls, you are terrific with the Bob books on your iPad.
